K5 PITS GIRLS AGAINST BOYS OVERSEAS

AUSTIN Sunday, March 11, 2012 – International sales company K5 has acquired international rights to GIRLS AGAINST BOYS, the controversial thriller that opened the Midnighters section of the SXSW Film Festival here on Friday. The acquisition was announced by K5 founders Oliver Simon and Daniel Bauer.

The female revenge killing spree thriller, written and directed by Austin Chick (XX/XY), stars Danielle Panabaker (FRIDAY THE 13th, THE CRAZIES) and Nicole LaLiberte (KABOOM). Panabaker plays Shae, a 21 year-old student who, after a brutal sexual assault, teams up with fellow nightclub bartender -  LaLiberte's "Lu" – on a weekend of one beautifully staged execution after another.

GIRLS AGAINST BOYS found an early champion in Charles Ealy, cinema editor at Austin's only daily newspaper, who called the movie "provocative," "stylishly filmed" and praised Panabaker's performances as "excellent."

GIRLS AGAINST BOYS is produced by Aimee Shieh and Clay Floren.  Ben Weiss at Paradigm is handling US sales.

K5 Founder Oliver Simon says that GIRLS AGAINST BOYS offers something exhilarating and distinctive.  "It is provocative, stylish and challenging.  And perfect for a smart young audience looking for something with real edge."

K5 co-founder Daniel Baur adds – "GIRLS AGAINST BOYS may not exactly encourage harmony between the sexes but it totally rocks."

"As a filmmaker, it's great to be joining such good company in the form of K5's Cannes slate," says GIRLS AGAINST BOYS writer-director Chick, speaking for producers Floren and Shieh.

Titles K5 will be representing at Cannes include a first look at director Mukunda Michael Dewil's Paul Walker thriller VEHICLE 19; Bille August's star-studded NIGHT TRAIN TO LISBON with Jerermy Irons, Mélanie Laurent, Jack Huston, Bruno Ganz, Charlotte Rampling and Christopher Lee; and Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen starrer VERY GOOD GIRLS.
