With so many choices to pick from, it's not exactly a coincidence when style stars like
Michelle Williams and
Kate Bosworth select feminine frocks from the same London-based label.
Best known for micro floral prints and unabashedly feminine silhouettes, Erdem has become an offbeat industry darling. After Claudia Schiffer
wore a runway look from his debut ready-to-wear collection in 2006, the designer went on to gain critical and capital success when Barneys New York became the brand's primary stockist. (The
Duchess of Cambridge helped
put him on the map, as well.)
In the past several months, A-listers have flocked to the lines ethereal frocks and punchy separates, alike. For the New York screening of
My Week with Marilyn, Michelle Williams selected an embroidered slip, while ingénue Elizabeth Olsen made a statement in a
$4,085 trademark print crepe de chine gown. Kate Bosworth looked capricious in a canary, off-shoulder frock from the line's spring 2012 collection, while
Jessica Alba paired extra pops of color with the brand's printed stovepipes.
"I never think about what's sexy," the designer
has said of his creations. "I focus on the silhouettes and the proportions and hope that takes care of everything."
