Scarlet Witch: News and Featurette - It's Just Movies

For “Captain America: Civil War” — the third film in the title hero’s string of solo movies — Chris Evans is getting a lot of super-powered company. We already know the movie is bringing in Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Falcon and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, but now one more character will be joining the fun.

Comic Book Movie attended a Q&A event at the Apple Store in London with “Avengers: Age of Ultron” director Joss Whedon and actress Elizabeth Olsen, and the latter revealed that her new character, Scarlet Witch, will be back in “Captain America: Civil War,” and added, “I guess I’m allowed to talk about that now.”

While that might by considered a spoilery detail, no one really thought that they would introduce a character like Scarlet Witch and just dispatch with her in a single movie. That would just be a waste. After all, we already know she ends up on the side of the Avengers eventually, after initially working with Ultron, so it just makes sense for her to stick around. But what about Quicksilver? Does he not make it? I guess we’ll find out next week.

And talk about timing, shortly after the Scarlet Witch/”Civil War” news broke out, Marvel released a new “Age of Ultron” featurette, which showed what Scarlet Witch will face in the second “Avengers” movie and why she’s making her way into “Civil War.”

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” hits theaters on Friday, while “Captain America: Civil War” is due out on May 6, 2016.
