It can be a good move for brands to take their success and use it to transform into something bigger and better. These designers used the momentum they had already built to skyrocket themselves into new markets, thereby expanding their brand and customer base.

15. Louboutin
The design house most famous for their red soled shoes has taken their brand into the beauty world by releasing a line of lipstick and nail polish under their name.
14. Phillip Lim
This designer actually released a nail polish collaboration with Nars, made to match the colors of his fashion designs.
13. Burberry
A good deal of the revenue for fashion house Burberry now comes from their fragrance and beauty products, when before they were only known for their clothing designs, and particularly their rain boots and trench coats.
12. Lilly Pulitzer
This fashion designer became known for the stunningly vibrant prints of her shift dresses and made a killing in the world of style. More recently, the brand made a deal with Target to launch a lower-cost version of their prints on designs exclusive to the affordable retailer, including home, kitchen and beach items.
11. Tom Ford
This designer probably had the strangest branching off from his fashion line because he moved into directing! The movie 'A Single Man' was his directorial debut, which starred his oft-referenced muse and friend Julianne Moore. He's also gotten into fragrances and other collaborations, but the movie was a surprising and impressive move for someone so entrenched in fashion.
10. Chanel
Coco Chanel first stepped into the beauty industry after success in the fashion world with the perfume Chanel No. 5 in 1921. The company has since made makeup and skincare items, and even a line of popular nail varnishes.
9. Viktor and Rolf
This Amsterdam-based fashion house is known more for their clothing and perfume than anything, but they've even collaborated with Shu Uemura to design some stunningly gorgeous false eyelashes back in 2008.
8. Karl Lagerfeld
This infamous Chanel designer has done many collaborations over the years, but his work with Fossil to design watches was probably one of the most surprising.
7. Manolo Blahnik
This Spanish shoe designer later found himself working on evening handbags, even though he is best known for his incredible heels.
6. Marc Jacobs
These days the colorful designer has his hands in numerous markets. His brand produces eyewear, jewelry, umbrellas, shoes, iPad and other electronics cases, along with his well-known runway looks.
5. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
These famous twins started out being known for their television and movie work, but as teens moved into beauty products and clothing for young girls. Since becoming adults they've reinvented themselves once more with their successful high-fashion line The Row and their jewelry line Elizabeth and James.
4. Emilo Pucci
Pucci first became famous first for his boldly printed scarves, blouses and dresses, but in more recent years his brand has worked on accessories like jewelry, sunglasses and hats too.
3. Diane von Furstenberg
This designer has done a lot since inventing the wrap dress back in the 1970's. Today her brand has moved into luxury travel accessories as well as handbags and other items.
2. Yves Saint Laurent
Founded in 1961, the Y.S.L name first ventured into cosmetics in 1978 and eventually launched perfumes as well.
1. Dolce and Gabbana
As expected, D&G has a similar story to others with the success of their fashion line allowing them to venture into perfume about 8 years after their launch. The interesting thing with them is that they've done well by diversifying their brands, rather than keeping them all under the same label, and have made a killing selling frames for corrective eyewear.
