Ahead of this Thursday’s launch of the first trailer, we thought we’d bring you a Spider-sized round up of what we know about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 so far.
This Thursday, Sony launch the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The movie is still stuck in releasing trailers of a trailer at the moment, but we don’t have long to wait for the full version.
Firstly, a brand new synopsis for the movie has been released. You can read that right here:
“We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp”.
So, now let’s get spoilery. You’ve probably seen this all dotted around online, but this is a round-up and we’ll veer on the safe side by warning you anyway.
Some shots have been doing the rounds of the first poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and now the real-deal has been released prior the trailer release on Thursday. They show two things. Firstly, that the Green Goblin is in the movie. And secondly, the Goblin is being played by Dane DeHaan.
DeHaan plays Harry Osborn in the new film, and it had been assumed that if the Goblin was to turn up again, he’d be in the guise of Norman Osborn first. That may yet be the case, but it’s definitely DeHaan pictured as the character on the poster, as you can see below.
Furthermore, Coming Soon reports that Chris Cooper, who was set to play Norman Osborn in the film, has been left off the latest official cast list issued by Sony. Might he, along with Shailene Woodley, have been cut out of the film?
We’d imagine some more clues will pop up in Thursday’s trailer. In the meantime, here’s that picture of the new Goblin and the rest of Spidey’s villains in the official poster.
